1. Golden Gate Bridge<\/strong><\/p>\n

Called the \u201cmost beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world<\/em>\u201d by Frommers, this San Francisco bridge opened in 1937. Spanning 4,200 feet, it is one of the\u00a0longest suspension bridges in the world, and was\u00a0declared\u00a0“one of the\u00a0Wonders of the Modern World” <\/em>by\u00a0<\/em>The\u00a0American Society of Civil Engineers.<\/p>\n
2. US Capitol<\/strong><\/p>\n

The United States Capitol is home to the\u00a0United States Congress. The building was designed by Dr. William Thornton\u00a0(1759 \u20131828), a\u00a0British-American physician, inventor, painter and\u00a0architect. Amazingly, he submitted a late entry into the design competition proposed by Thomas Jefferson \u2013 and won!<\/em> Construction was completed by 1800.<\/p>\n
\u00a03.\u00a0<\/strong>Lincoln Memorial<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Opened in 1922 to honor Abraham Lincoln, the 16th\u00a0President of the United States. The Lincoln statue was carved by the\u00a0Piccalilli Brothers: an entire family (father and six sons) of renowned\u00a0marble\u00a0carvers<\/em> originally from Tuscany, Italy who settled in New York City. Approximately 6 million people visit the memorial annually. In 2007, it ranked 7th on the\u00a0List of America’s Favorite Architecture<\/em>\u00a0by the\u00a0American Institute of Architects.<\/p>\n
4. The Chrysler Building<\/strong><\/p>\n
\"Art<\/p>\n
Many architects consider this 1930 Art Deco building to be\u00a0one of the finest buildings in New York City. In 2007, it ranked 9th on the\u00a0List of America’s Favorite Architecture<\/em>\u00a0by the\u00a0American Institute of Architects. Although it has a steel frame, it\u2019s actually the tallest brick building in the world.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0<\/strong>Statue of Liberty<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The statue was a gift from\u00a0France to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Many believed that the mother of the French sculptor was the model of the statue<\/em>.<\/p>\n
